Dear Eight Grade Parents and Students,

Intersession is approaching quickly, and we are extremely excited about our trip.  We will be visiting Washington, D. C. for the week.  We are very excited about seeing Washington during the Christmas season.  Your child needs to arrive at the Dining Hall Parking Lot at 7:30 a.m. on Friday, December 14.  We will return at approximately 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 18 to the Dining Hall Parking Lot.

Only in the case of an emergency, contact the following numbers:

· Emergency Contact Information:

· Daytime Hours (8-5) Please contact the school and the receptionist will connect you to the designated emergency person.    706-746-7467

· Evening Hours—Please contact the Duty Administrator phone at     706-982-2343 for assistance.

Remember “No news is good news.”  Please do not be surprised if you do not receive a phone call.  We will be keeping the students very busy, and they may not take time to call you.

Enclosed you will find an itinerary that will describe our day to day activities.  We have also included a list suggesting what your child should bring.  Please make any purchases needed for their intersession trip over the Thanksgiving Break.

We will be staying at Camp Highroads in Middleburg, Virginia (www.camphighroad.org).  The students will be in our supervision for the duration of the trip.

The Eighth Grade also does a service project for our intersession trip.  We do a canned food drive for Martha’s Table.  Martha’s Table’s mission is to serve the needs of the less fortunate in the Washington, D.C. community through food, learning, healthy living, recreational and family support services.  Visit their web site at www.mathastable.org.    For our service project, we are asking that every eighth grader bring in 5 – 10 cans of food.   If you would like to make a greater contribution, that would be great.  We will be receiving our contributions for the canned food drive anytime after November 7.

Sincerely,

Eighth Grade Chaperones
