What to Bring

Please note this “What to Bring” list is based on years of experience. The weather is at all times unpredictable.  We want your child to be safe, healthy, and comfortable.  That starts with careful attention to the “What to Bring” list.  Equally as important as “What to Bring” is “What NOT to Bring”.  The repeated pleas to pay attention to the list are based on our own personal experiences dealing with uncomfortable, miserable children who did not pay attention to the “What-to-Bring” list.  If you have any questions, please call Susan Orr at (706-746-7467, ext 249) during the day or (706-746-5278) in the evening.

Wednesday, Thursday,  Friday, Monday, and Tuesday

We will be outside much of the time.  Students should wear clothes that can get dirty.

What to wear:

· Sturdy long pants that do not drag on the ground.  If pants are too long, they drag in the grass and get wet, and then the student has wet, cold feet and legs for the rest of the day.

· Sturdy shoes and socks

· T-shirt, shirt, and sweatshirt that can be layered to suit the weather

· Jacket, gloves and hat as indicated by the weather

What to bring:

· A day pack or fanny pack containing:

· Water bottle

· Pen and pencil

· Optional – camera

In Addition:  Bring on Wednesday, to be left at school, available for the entire five days, just in case*.  (Name clearly marked on outside)

A separate bag with a complete change of clothes, including underwear and shoes, a towel, and a plastic bag that can be used to take home wet clothes.

*The month of December in the mountains can mean any kind of weather imaginable, sometimes all in the same day.  Expect to get wet, plan to stay warm and dry, and have spares for the unpredictable.  Choose clothing that can be layered to adjust to conditions as appropriate.

What NOT To Bring:

· “Good” clothes

· Snacks, food, gum, or candy (this attracts insects and other animals)

· Hair-spray, perfume, or any other highly scented product

· Telephones, radios, tape players, Gameboys, or other electronic or electrical equipment

· Slick-soled shoes

· Knives or weapons of any kind

· Any illegal substances or those illegal for this age group

· Expensive belongings
