International students applying to American colleges must
submit supplementary application information to the colleges. Having this
information ready and available at the beginning of the senior year will help
the application process go smoothly. Although not all colleges will require all
of the following information, it is helpful to have it on hand.
Documents needed by
international students:
·
Copy of current
passport
·
Copy of current visa
·
“Proof of Funds” for
college – official bank statements in U.S. dollars that validate enough
resources to pay for at least the first year of college (some colleges seek
proof of funds for all four years). Original documents are needed for each
college application.
·
An original
affidavit of support form signed by the parent or other person who will be
providing financial support for college. (Originals needed for each college).
·
An English
translation of all course work completed before entering Rabun Gap-Nacoochee
School. Some colleges require that a translating service be used to verify
these records and credits.
International students should check
with the colleges to determine if they need to complete a special international
student application. Some colleges require additional application fees from
international students. Special forms are also required for students applying
for financial aid. All international students should make contact with the
international student offices of admission at their chosen colleges and obtain
clear and accurate information about specific requirements for international
applicants.
