COLLEGE ADMISSION TESTING AT RGNS

Rabun Gap SAT and ACT High School Code is 112-460.

Our goal is to provide Rabun Gap students with opportunities to do their best on college admission tests. Students begin taking practice tests in 10th grade and continue testing on a regular basis through fall of the senior year. Our students take these tests here on our campus, allowing them to perform in a comfortable, familiar setting. Additional testing is available at the family’s discretion.

Tenth Grade

October – Students take the PSAT (practice for the SAT)

November – Students take the PLAN (practice for the ACT)

Students will complete paper registration forms for these tests and fees are handled through the school incidental account.

Results from these tests are mailed to parents in December.

Late spring – Students who are considering more competitive colleges are encouraged to consider taking SAT-II Subject Tests as they finish certain courses. See Mrs. White for more information.

Twelfth Grade

Additional SAT-I and SAT-II dates are available for students who opt to re-take the test or to take additional Subject Tests. For most SAT dates, the test is offered either on our campus or at Rabun County High School (for which we provide transportation). Students who wish to take additional tests are responsible for their own registration; materials are available in the college counseling center.

Additional ACT dates are available throughout the year. Students are responsible for registration and transportation to these tests, which are not offered locally.

Students with Disabilities

We make every effort to support students who are qualified to receive services for students with disabilities. Please inform Jane Brewer, RGNS Learning Specialist, if your student should receive these services and assistance will be provided in obtaining the appropriate services.

International Students

International students are encouraged to take the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) to submit to colleges in addition to SAT and ACT scores. TOEFL registration and administration is handled through the International Student Affairs office.

Advanced Placement

A variety of Advanced Placement courses are offered as part of our curriculum. All students enrolled in AP courses are required to take the College Board sanctioned Advanced Placement exams at the conclusion of the course. Students are automatically registered for these exams and fees are handled through the school incidental account.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Students are responsible for sending appropriate test scores directly from the College Board and/or ACT to their selected colleges. Keep records of which scores were sent to colleges, and the dates that they were sent
