Rabun Gap SAT and
Our goal is to provide Rabun Gap
students with opportunities to do their best on college admission tests.
Students begin taking practice tests in 10th grade and continue
testing on a regular basis through fall of the senior year. Our students take
these tests here on our campus, allowing them to perform in a comfortable,
familiar setting. Additional testing is available at the family’s discretion.
October
– Students take the PSAT (practice for the SAT)
November
– Students take the PLAN (practice for the ACT)
Students
will complete paper registration forms for these tests and fees are handled
through the school incidental account.
Results
from these tests are mailed to parents in December.
Late
spring – Students who are considering more competitive colleges are encouraged
to consider taking SAT-II Subject Tests as they finish certain courses. See
Mrs. White for more information.
October
– Students take the PSAT (practice for the SAT). This test is the qualifying
test for the National Merit Scholarship Program and the National Achievement
Scholarship Program for juniors. Results from this test are mailed to parents
in December.
October – Students completing the SAT prep course (every
other year) take the October SAT-I.
February
or April – Students take the ACT. (Date is dependent upon the school’s spring
break).
Spring –
Students take the SAT-I. (Date is dependent upon the school’s spring break).
Students
will complete paper registration forms for these tests and fees are handled
through the school incidental account.
Late
spring – Students may opt to take SAT-II subject tests. These tests are
required by some colleges for admission. Students need to register themselves
for these tests; materials are available in the college counseling center.
October
– All seniors take the SAT-I and ACT here on campus. Students will complete
paper registration forms for these tests and fees are handled through the
school incidental account.
Additional
SAT-I and SAT-II dates are available for students who opt to re-take the test
or to take additional Subject Tests. For most SAT dates, the test is offered
either on our campus or at

ACT dates are available throughout the year. Students are responsible for
registration and transportation to these tests, which are not offered locally.
Students
with Disabilities
We make
every effort to support students who are qualified to receive services for
students with disabilities. Please inform Jane Brewer, RGNS Learning
Specialist, if your student should receive these services and assistance will
be provided in obtaining the appropriate services.
International
Students
International
students are encouraged to take the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign
Language) to submit to colleges in addition to SAT and ACT scores. TOEFL
registration and administration is handled through the International Student
Affairs office.
Advanced
Placement
A
variety of Advanced Placement courses are offered as part of our curriculum.
All students enrolled in AP courses are required to take the College Board
sanctioned Advanced Placement exams at the conclusion of the course. Students
are automatically registered for these exams and fees are handled through the
school incidental account.
IMPORTANT
NOTE: Students are responsible for sending appropriate test scores directly
from the College Board and/or ACT to their selected colleges. Keep records of
which scores were sent to colleges, and the dates that they were sent
